Transportation/Logistics Manager
Responsibilities
- Plan and oversee the transportation of people from origin to destination, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with regulations.
- Coordinate with senior management, customers and external stakeholders to resolve issues as they arise.
- Communicate timely with drivers and customers if delays in schedule and provide timely updates and accommodations on another shuttle if possible.
- Manage and optimize transportation routes to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.
- Monitor transportation operations to ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Analyze transportation data and prepare reports on key metrics such as delivery performance, transportation costs, and inventory levels.
- Implement process improvements to streamline operations and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Expeditiously handle employee issues involving job duties.
- Arrange and report maintenance and repair needs for transportation vehicles and equipment.
- Conduct regular safety audits on vehicles and equipment.
- Keep organized records of vehicles, MDOT annual inspections of vehicles, schedules and rides completed.
- Stay up to date with compliance requirements and applicable laws.
- Plan, develop and implement transportation health and safety, and security programs.
- Develop and communicate transportation policies and procedures.
- Monitor operations to ensure staff comply with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules and government regulations.
- Develop key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of transportation operations.
- Conduct investigations to determine causes of transportation accidents and to improve safety procedures.
- Prepare management recommendations such as schedule changes, driver changes, service delivery improvements and customer experience improvements.
- Remain current with the latest transportation technology systems and procedures.
- Monitor Time clock to assess employee attendance patterns and arrange for substitutes or stand-by drivers to cover absences.
- Conduct annual employee evaluations.
- Perform periodic checks of the shuttles to ensure external and internal appearances are up to the Right Choice Standards of Professionalism and Order.
- Order uniforms for the new employees.
- Ensure all drivers have the correct and up-to-date qualifications.
- Lead and develop a team of transportation and logistics professionals, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in transportation management, logistics coordination, or a similar role within the transportation industry.
- Strong understanding of transportation regulations, compliance standards, and best practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
- Proficiency in transportation management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks effectively.
- A commitment to teamwork.
